IHRSA snapshoots

The flops at this IHRSA: The Cory Everson Biceps-Blaster brings more “pain than gain”, - How many marks for this one? Just one dumbbell - not recommended. For an explanation of the FT dumb bell ratings: See masthead on page 66

Johnny G gets a lemon. He always plays more of a clown for the spectators but this time it was embarassing to watch as more and more people dismounted from the spinning-bikes and he had to complete his class with only half the indoor cycles in use. Did the break-up between Mad Dogg and Schwinn leave Johnny G with problems by any chance? For the sake of the likeable megastar, we hope not!

Play terminals with consoles - stimulus satiation well into the red arc. It’s pos sible to see how irregular the movements of the people exercising are - sometimes even to the point of being staccato. Brain training, hand and finger exercises and on top of that regular pedalling too - nobody can do that. This kind of exer cise machines do more harm than good. An absolute maximum of one dumbbell. The industry should be more careful with what it offers its gym members!

One more point to finish; IHRSA is becoming more global all the time. Alongside the 4th IHRSA South America Conference and Trade show and the 2nd IHRSA Asia-Pacific Forum, the 3rd IHRSA European Congress will take place in London between October 2nd and 4th, 2003. In some countries there is now the CBI Club Business International Magazine. From this Autumn a CBI Magazine for Europe will be launched.

Rich and poor. The annual increase in the poorest of the poor is absolutely shocking. The things one sees on the Streets of San Francisco is enough to make the strongest man cry. See you next year in Las Vegas! Jean-Pierre L. Schupp
