The “flexibility” category uses the stand & reach test – the split, something that is either hated or loved – there are no in-betweens here – and shoulder flexibil ity. As our oldest competitor, 72 year-old Paul Bachmann, took his turn to demon strate his flexibility the spectators erupted in a wave of enthusiasm. With a mischie vous smile on his face and arms held high the world champion to be showed that the split does not have to be a privi lege of the young, but something that can also be learned at a more advanced age – assuming the will to do so is there. The award ceremony was presided over by our President, Mr. Georg Yourievsky, Mr. Marcel Christen, co-owner of the Step-by-Step gym in Aarau, one of the sponsors of this event, and Sylvia Gat tiker, European President. In addition to the medals and certificates there were many other fantastic prizes sponsored by the international fashion firm, VeroModa and the fashion label for Messrs Jack’n

Jones that is currently being established in Switzerland. The companies InkoSpor and AllStars provided a great catering service for the event and a perfect sound system was provided by AKTIV SOUND from Bel likon – a big thank you to all for your fan tastic support. We would like to thank the City of Aarau for making the sports facility available with particular thanks to Mr. Matter who was responsible for pro viding us with assistance and support. Strenflex fitness sport attracted media interest for the first time too! Mr. Billetter from TeleZüri filmed an excellent report that was broadcast on the same evening in the news bulletin. The broadcast was repeated every hour until midday on Sunday. Thanks to the TeleZüri cov erage a large proportion of the Zurich population was able to learn about the advantages of Strenflex fitness sport from the comfort of their armchairs. The feedback and interest we received fol lowing this television appearance was huge and was an indication to us that the Strenflex fitness sport team is taking the correct approach.

Gerhard Scherl of WellnessMag azin , Austria’s feel-good maga zine number one, travelled from Vienna especially for the event. Our new World Champion in age category IV gave a telephone interview with Sonntagsblick (Sunday view) and his split was there for all to see in this, the highest circulation newspaper in German-speaking Switzerland. The Aargauer Zeitung newspaper had already reported on Strenflex in the run up to the event, and Radio Aargovia considered us worthy of a mention in their event calendar. In our fast-paced times the 4th World Championships will soon be a thing of the past - but we can already look forward to the future – the 4th Strenflex fitness sport European Championships in Autumn 2007 which will take place once again in Aarau… and hopefully to many Strenflex Fit ness Sport GYM Championships,
